Once the elderly are affected by this disease, in addition to the inconvenience of the limbs, they might also face the problems of speech disorder and dysphagia. Due to such factors as the low birth rate, large outflow of young people and so on, the family members, caretakers and medical personnel encounter an even worse dilemma when they care for patients with Parkinson's disease at home. Based on the four phases of service design--Discover, Define, Develop and Deliver, this study first discovered the potential difficulties that patients with Parkinson's disease might have in doing speech therapy at home, as well as their views of the smart handheld device. In the second phase, the service defects was defined through the research team. An innovative service design process was defined and a speech therapy platform was then developed to fill the service defects by means of a smart handheld device. In the delivery phase, to ensure the practicality of the speech therapy platform, some patients with Parkinson's disease and some speech therapists were asked to put it to the test after its completion. It is hoped that because of the platform designed in this study, patients with Parkinson’s disease will have more opportunities and will be better motivated to perform speech therapy at home in the future, thus increasing the efficiency of the therapy and reducing the costs and medical resources involved in it.
