Summary: | 碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 觀光事業學系碩士班 === 105 === Ministry of Education promoted the Outdoor Education Implementation Plan for children to learn to step out of the classrooms at least once every semester. Concept and objectives of basic education was implemented through the policy, and environmental education was included as one of the “four major issues.” The Environmental Education Law enacted in 2011 stipulated that civil servants of government agencies and students of elementary, junior and senior high schools should receive four hours of environmental education per year. Based on the concept and scope of education, “outdoor teaching” and “environmental learning” are highly correlated. Leisure farms have become one of the important venues for environmental learning and outdoor teaching held by schools, because they allow visitors to learn to co-exist with nature through natural ecological activities and hands-on experiences. This research focused mainly on the correlation between outcome of outdoor teaching and environmental learning at leisure farms.
In order to understand the outcome of students’ environmental learning, this research chose Kingcar Toucheng Leisure Farm as the major venue. Research was done on the relationship between perception, satisfaction and outcome of outdoor learning from elementary, junior and senior high school students. Further discussions are also presented with regards to the differences between perception, satisfaction and outcome of environmental learning from students with various background.
Questionnaires of this research consist of four parts, including demographic variables, perception and satisfaction scales of outdoor teaching, and outcome scale of environmental education. Questionnaires were sent to senior students visiting the Kingcar Toucheng Leisure Farm for outdoor teaching purposes. All material was examined through descriptive statistics, analysis of confidence level, T-test, one-way analysis of variance, and related methods.
Results showed that perception and satisfaction of outdoor teaching are positively correlated. Perception of outdoor teaching and outcome of environmental learning are positively correlated. Satisfaction of outdoor teaching and environmental learning are also positively correlated. Finally, suggestions for Kingcar Toucheng Leisure Farm regarding the content and design of outdoor teaching curriculum are also presented in this research for future references.
