When students have behavioral problems, it is teachers and counselors’ duty to identify the problems,collect all the data, and formulate strategies to solve those behavioral problems. The purpose of this study is to investigate the counseling effectiveness of the digital augmentative and alternative communication program on communication and emotional behaviors for a non-verbal student with hearing impairment. The single subject research across settingse design was adopted. The participant was a seventh-grade mild mental retarded student with severe hearing impairment.Two settings (home, school) and three stages (baseline, intervention, and maintenance) were included. Visual analysis was used for data analysis. The results of this study are summarized as following: 1.Counseling mode intervention of digital AAC enhanced the performance of communicative behavior significantly. 2. Counseling mode intervention of emotional picture books reduced the performance of crying behavior.
