In order to make a trade off between high bandwidth requirement and limited available resources, using traffic offload becomes a trend. Accordingly, device-to-device communication designed for traffic offload is developed. This thesis proposes a power-saving scheduling mechanism to maximize the capacity of the LTE network by integrating the DRX mechanism into device-to-device communication. The power-saving scheduling mechanism can achieve a better satisfactory level and give users a better network experience.
