Assess the Operating Performance of Taiwan's Shipping Industry with the Methodologies of VIKOR and TOPSIS

碩士 === 高苑科技大學 === 經營管理研究所 === 105 === Abstract Taiwan is an island-type economy, and its economic development is highly dependent on international trade; therefore, international transportation plays an important key role, and it mainly depends on the mode of sea and air transportation. Due to being surrounded by the sea, Taiwan is in the possession of the advantages of shipping conditions and the international competitiveness of the production and processing technology. In addition to the high level of education and the rapid development of small and medium enterprises, the excellent port facilities and a strong sea and air transport team not only promote the development of international trade, but also promote economic growth. Based on the financial ratios assessment criteria provided by the shipping sector listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the purpose of this study is to select the enterprises with the best operating performance and allow investors to invest in the business with good operating performance and positive growth. In addition, it further provides the enterprise with analysis of internal advantages, and strengthens the operating profit, decision-making basis, external assessment of market competitiveness and creates a company operating profit vision. The data source is the financial ratio provided by the public website of the Taiwan Stock Exchange as the criteria for the assessment. The relative weight of the financial ratios is calculated by the entropy weight method. The TOPSIS preference order assessment method is used to evaluate the best listing. This study analyzes the performance evaluation from 2013 to 2015, with 21 listed food companies as the research object. According to the TOPSIS method, the empirical results show that the top three companies are the Taiwan high-speed rail, Huiyang investment company, Xinxing.
