In this study, silver nanoparticles were prepared by simple chemical reduction method, and silver nitrate (AgNO3) was reduced by using polyol process reduction method. Then silver nanoparticles were prepared into silver nanoink, and filled in the commercial EPSON T50 printer ink cartridges to print silver interdigitated array electrode on the polyimide film. Then silver interdigitated array electrode was coated with a layer of metal-organic material of zinc oxide asgas sensing components. The gas sensing components was then placed in a homemade gas sensor, andundergonegas sensing test assistedwith16W UV-light at room temperature. The sensing data was recorded by a computer with sourcemeter(Keithley 2400). The results showed thathomemadegas sensor was highly sensitive and good selectivewhile itsResponse was 39.1, the response time (Tres) was 56 (s) and the recovery time (Trec)was10 (s) toward50 ppmacetone under the irradiation of 16W UV-light at room temperature. The responsechanged obviously with increasingacetone concentration, which is an effective acetone gas sensor. The zinc oxide nanocage material, at room temperature assisted with16 W UV lamp irradiation, showing the high sensitivity and selectivityof the detection of acetone, and shows a great potential for gas sensing materials.
