Most students will complete the academic degree after graduation then apply to study overseas, the other students will take advantage of Taiwanese outstanding achievements in school to apply for a scholarship to study abroad. Therefore, the Ministry of Education in Taiwan want to encourage more Taiwanese students to study abroad so as to motivate international competitive advantage. Although Taiwanese students studying in foreign countries need to enhance their foreign languages, Taiwanese students need to achieve their goals of speaking and writing comprehension skill. Taiwanese students usually adapt to life on a variety of issues, the one factor which is cultural adaptation, and one of the focus of this study. In addition, this study analyzed two research questions: (a) What are the difficulties Taiwanese graduate students have encountered in their study in the United States? (b) How do the Taiwanese graduate students overcome their problems during their academic pursuit in the United States? In the study is explore three different levels of the questionnaire: the actual situation (a) For the difficulties encountered and what actual felt when first arriving in US and the ones that still exists.(b) For the difficulties experienced when arriving at US as a Taiwan graduate student and the difficulties still remain in addition the actual situation of how to plan to resolve them.(c)For those of participant’s recommendation and conclusion from study while studying in US. The findings from qualitative interviews in this research can be summarized into following four points: (a) The biggest difficulty of the students studying abroad is homesickness (b) Cultural adaptation difficulties encountered by students studying abroad are medical related issues, followed by inability to blend into local cultural festivities.(c) Suppose students studying abroad encountering medical need, cultural festivity and living environment and so on in their cultural adaptation issues, these could raise the level of perception in studying difficulties. (d) Taiwanese graduate students recognize that in order to secure foreign diploma, it primarily requires constant endeavors in addition to overcome the living stress. According to the analysis of four factors, this study provides a number of recommendations to the students from Taiwan and offers to give future researchers to study abroad as a research reference documentation of the basis for this study.
