Due to science and technology advancement, as well as the complexity and fast service of global supply chain management, the selection of the raw materials or accessories has been extended from local suppliers to international ones. In other words, the upstream supplier’s competitors are not confined to domestic firms, but rather expanded to the worldwide related ones. Thus, the number of the firms available for choosing from has been substantially increasing, which enables the enterprise to make choice from the simple decision model to changing to the complex but flexible decision model. As such, for the supply chain of traditional industry like spring industry, although the relations with the suppliers are long-term and stable, most of them are localized, in which the operation model needs to be adjusted. This study explores how to sift the most suitable ones from many suppliers, via literature review and data collection, and the application of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with fuzzy theory. Therefore, this study through literature and expert and scholar interview develops a set of decision constructs model, based on which questionnaire is designed and then released to the supplier experts to fill out. After the questionnaires are collected, the AHP is used to carry out the analysis, and then the fuzzy theory to integrate in order to find the best rules. As the results reveal in this research, the first three factors that influence the selection of suppliers the most are the production technology enhancement, quality management control, and delivery on time. So, the example of spring industry perhaps can be applied as references to other traditional industries that may help enterprises make decision when selecting the suppliers.
