Living in such an environment, the education of disaster prevention in earthquake is more and more important. The goal in this study is to investigate the effects of designed teaching module of seismic hazard mitigation on students’ knowledge, attitudes, literacy, and behavior through the experimental teaching of 8 classes. Participants are students having the 6th grade, sampled from some elementary school in Taoyuan city, and divided into two groups, including 24 students in the experiment group and 26 students in the control group. After implementing the designed teaching module for 50 students, a survey by the questionnaire is conducted to study the effects of the teaching module of seismic hazard mitigation on participants. In this paper, data are collected by the questionnaire, and empirical analysis is carried out. Some important findings have revealed as follows: 1.The performance of the experiment group for disaster prevention related to knowledge, attitudes, literacy, and behaviors is better than that of the control group. It is shown that the designed teaching module is effective. 2. In the experiment group, there are no significant differences for the items, including gender, parents’ background and occupation. 3. The participants learn about knowledge of seismic hazard mitigation most from their school teachers, minor from their family and internet resources. 4. The participants have positive attitudes toward the practice and activity in learning seismic hazard mitigation. Based on the findings mentioned above, this study proposes suggestions as follows: 1. Teacher learning communities could be found for teachers to design various teaching activities in seismic hazard mitigation, and hence education of seismic hazard mitigation could be popularized. 2. Curriculums of seismic hazard mitigation could be localized, developed and integrated into multiple learning domains to increase effectiveness on education of seismic hazard mitigation.
