Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the perceived health status and depression of the elderly who participated in health promotion activities in community care stations. The study adopted descriptive study, cross-sectional study to enable convenience sampling. The research subjects were 130 elderly people who participated in health promotion activities in community care stations in three communities in Yong-Kang District, Tainan City. The data were collected with structured questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire consisted of “Questionnaire on the Perceived Physical and Mental Health of the Elderly” and “Taiwanese Depression Questionnaire.” The results of the study showed the following. The age and numbers of chronic disease of the elderly who participated in health promotion activities in community care stations were significantly and negatively related to perceived health status. The frequency of static and active activities, the total hours of static and active activities, and the number of static activities of the elderly were significantly related to perceived health status. The age and number of chronic diseases of the elderly were significantly and positively related to depression. The number of static activities of the elderly was significantly related to depression. The study raised the following suggestions. Health promotion activities in community care stations were worthy of more active promotions by the government. Future studies could adopt cluster sampling or longitudinal involvement and activities to understand better the benefits of health promotion activities in community care stations.
