The circuit consists of a bidirectional buck-cascaded buck-boost inverter and an full-bridge unfolding circuit. The circuit operates with either step-down or step-up operation principle. Part of the energy can be directly delivered to output terminal to improve efficiency. In addition, only two switches operate with high frequency switching at the same time, which can reduce the switching losses. The proposed circuit can work as either step-down or step-up inverter, so that the dc-bus voltage can be reduced. Operation principles and circuit analysis of the proposed converter are addressed.
