碩士 === 華梵大學 === 哲學系碩士班 === 105 === McIntyre is important in modern Western ethical scientist who uses a macro-historical perspective to diagnose and analyze Western moral marginalization. He considered that the formation of virtue and history and social background closely related. He argues that contemporary social ethic have lost their purpose and marginalization, personality differences and loss of integrity, moral tools and cultural traditions of the root causes of the loss of the crisis.
McIntyre stressed the need to face and solve the plight of contemporary virtues are the most worthwhile followers of Aristotle's Virtue ethics approach. But he stressed that the Aristotelian tradition should be set as an uninterrupted dialogue rather than completely endorsed relationship.
McIntyre follow Aristotle, agree that virtuous people are good for the purpose, the use of practical wisdom, in different circumstances can find the doctrine, to achieve emotional and rational coordination, but also to find personal and community of the important of the common good, Good, purpose, practice, emotion and happiness. But he argues that Aristotle limited by the cultural and social background of the city at that time, and that there was lack of history, class stereotypes, too much emphasis on harmony and consistency and ignore the conflict potential significance and value.
He tried to modern social moral dilemma to Aristotle, locating the virtues three elements as virtuous new basis : the inner good for the "practice" direction, the individual to become a "complete life Narrative as a whole "for the interactive premise, and social and cultural" tradition "for the moral boundaries to cope with today's moral dilemma. The three complement keeping each other as supplementary and argumentation.
In the "virtue after", McIntyre is still constantly revised supplementary Aristotle the theory, continue to amend the theory of the addition of Aristotle: virtue to be able to practice the actual elements: to have a decentralized and generous to give the local public service community; individuals to become practical reason that weak But also to ensure that there is room for open and effective dialogue in order to make the tradition of a continuous moral exploration to find the relative superiority of the process, continue to complement each other and amendment in order to form a common good.
Standing on the shoulders of the giant, McIntyre's follow-up to Aristotle, demonstrating a dynamic and open attitude. McIntyre's three elements of virtue, is a new foundation for the virtues of modern society.
