The main operating parameters were as followed, the applied pressure (1 kg/cm2 - 3 kg/cm2) and the electrical field (1 V/cm - 3 V/cm). Upon the observed data, the relationship between operating parameters and dehydration efficiency was discussed. It is expected to search the appropriate operating parameters of electrokinetic-assisted dehydration processes. The result revealed that the water content decreased from 69 % to 64 % when the applied pressure was raised from 1 kg/cm2 to 3 kg/cm2. If a constant pressure of 3 kg/cm2 and a constant electrical field of 1 V/cm were applied, the water content of sludge cake decreased from the initial value 75 % to 64 %. When the electrical field was raised from 1 V/cm to 3 V/cm, the water content of sludge cake decreased from 64 % to 57 %. According to the results of this study, the higher pressure and electrical field is applied, the higher dewatering efficiency and the solid content of the sludge are obtained. The preliminary energy consumption assessment showed that, compared with the filter press dehydrator, electrodynamic force assisted dewatering process save energy and time costs.
