In recent years, countries in the Asian region have particularly been able to sweep most of the tournament medals. In particular, Taiwan's badminton performance has become increasingly outstanding in the international games.Badminton not only requires good endurance as a foundation, more importantly, it requires speed, technology, and flexible tactical awareness. During the competition, player's display of fast-paced speed, power, graceful technical skills, perseverance, and wisdom in tactical application during the games, all demonstrates the value and characteristics of badminton. The purpose of this study is to perform a technical analysis of the badminton men's singles contestants in the quarterfinal matches of the 2016 Rio Olympics, to thereby provide a future reference guide for the national team coach and athletes training. Below are the research areas for this thesis: 1.Analyze the technical shots usage of the quarterfinal athletes in the 2016 Olympic badminton match.2.Analyze the shuttle shot landing distribution of the men’s singles quarterfinal athletes in the 2016 Olympic badminton match.3.Analyze the number of shots and type of misses made by the men's singles quarterfinal athletes in the 2016 Olympic badminton match. Based on the analysis, we have developed recommendations as future training reference for men's singles badminton.
