Hence, under limited resource allocation, emerges the development of intelligent library, fully automated book dispensing machine, and various formats of library resource services. Furthermore, with intelligent library providing dynamic extended city map services, it allows people to access library borrowing functions whenever and wherever they want. By utilizing self-served hubs conveniently located in easy-access locations, readers could borrow and return books both effectively and conveniently. Readers could also enjoy the librarian-free environment without any interference. This study mainly focuses on analyzing the users of East Metro Mall Intelligent Library system, a subsidiary of the Taipei Public Library. This study will examine these intelligent library users’ behavior, usage motives, and attempt to understand what perspectives, recommendations, and expectations towards the system. This study will gather experiences from system users and compile a list of useful recommendations which could be used as reference with future intelligent library builders. This study will conduct a research survey towards 101 users around East Metro Mall intelligent library. By utilizing research survey, this study could get a general understanding of the users’ background, usage condition, and their usage satisfaction. Furthermore, the research narrows down to specific target audience to conduct interview which covers usage behavior, their opinion towards library infrastructure and reading environment, and their future recommendation and expectation towards intelligent libraries. This study will provide a comprehensive study of the different concepts and sectors of the East Metro Mall Intelligent Library: 1. Usage motives; 2. Usage Behavior; 3. Collections of opinions; 4. Opinions of environment and infrastructure; 5. Opinion towards the intelligent library; 6. Expectation towards the intelligent library. Based on the research results, this study will provide the following recommendations: 1.Increase the quantity of intelligent libraries; 2. Instruction Manual should be easy to understand; 3. The Promotion of intelligent libraries should be strengthened; 4. Strict control towards homeless people within the library.
