Summary: | 碩士 === 佛光大學 === 未來與樂活產業學系 === 105 === Stress can cause illness, anxiety, lack of sleep, depression, tension, improper diet, excessive drinking and so on, which may increase the formation of free radicals in the human body. Free radical is an extremely active and unstable substance existing in the human body. It will react with the cells, so that cells appear abnormal situations or even death, resulting in a variety of chronic diseases and aging. This study mainly collected 16 common herbs and flowers from the campus of Fo Guang University, namely begonia semperflorens, bidens pilosa, Camellia, hibiscus, amaryllis, pitaya, Lantana camara, Taiwan lily, mazus japonicas, Taiwan Michelia figo, Osmanthus flower, peony、double cerasus serrulata, rhaphiolepis umbellatea, Rhododendron, Youngia rosthornii, etc. Soaking and extracting natural aroma of flowers by using 40% concentration of alcohol at room temperature, and the following chemical analysis and activity analysis of the extract shall be conducted:(1) phenolic compounds; (2) anthraquinones; (3) alkaloids; (4) flavonoids; (5) triterpenes; and (6) free radicals scavenging by DPPH ; (7) ABTS+▪ Antioxidant capacity assay.
The results of the study show that the ability to scavenge free radicals and antioxidant ability of essence which are extracted from 16 kinds of flowers are: (1) free radical scavenging rate is more than 80%: Camellia, Begonia semperflorens; (2) antioxidant capacity is more than 95%: double cerasus serrulata, camellia, sweet-scented osmanthus and so on.
Antioxidant and free radical scavenging ability of camellia is higher than other flowers and it contains polyphenols, flavonoids, triterpenes and other phytochemicals. This paper chooses camellia as the main research material. The author has collected a large amount of flowers and used different concentrations of alcohol extract (water, 20%, 40%, 80% and 95%) to study the biological activity of antioxidant free radical scavenging. Coupled with biological activity test of the antioxidant free radical scavenging, the author also compared and researched the optimal conditions for the active extraction. In addition, supplemented by the literature, this paper explores the pharmacological activity, and chooses to research and develop natural health products which are beneficial to human disease prevention or health promotion, such as: wine (jade tea wine), beauty skin care products (LOHAS man mask) and so on.
