The purpose of this study was to research and analyze the development of the reading promotion in Sunshine Junior High School in Taichung. From the in-depth interviews with twelve administrative staffs including the presidents, the directors, and the teachers, the major findings were concluded as follows:
1.Reading promotion is based on the foundation named the foothold period to the growth period.
2.The strategy to promote the reading activities is transforming the library space into a more energetic one to enhance the school reading atmosphere, making reading habits take root in the campus.
3. The innovative and unprecedented series activity " OPEN Sharing", comprising speeches on various topics, was designed to promote reading.
4.The strategy of promoting by the administrative operation is using the marketing strategy to promote.
5.The development of reading promotion increases students’ interest in reading and enhances teachers’ teaching effectiveness when they introduce good books to students
Finally, according to the results of this study, the faculty in school should have a long-term perspective, endeavor to promote reading activities, link up with community libraries, and establish a resource sharing system. For the education-related government department, teaching indicators of reading strategies and the number of the subjects can be increased and multiple data collection methods can be adopted.
