Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 藥用植物與保健學系 === 105 === Over the past few decades, due to the improvement of the health environment, living condition, use of antibiotic, nuclear family, and reduced exposing to germs, the chance of suffering allergic diseases were increased in developed countries. In this study, we estimated the effect of garlic extracts on Dermatophoides pteronyssinus (Der p) -induced allergic airway inflammation. BALB/c mice were treated with different doses of garlic extracts and S-Allyl-L-cysteine (SAC) 80 mg/kg orally for two weeks before Der p allergen sensitization and for another two weeks during sensitization and allergen challenge. As the results of this study, we found that the doses of garlic extract 200 mg/kg and SAC 80 mg/kg significantly raise the content of serum IgE and IgG1, IgG2a, increase IFN-γ content and promote the balance of autoimmune TH1/TH2. The concentrations of IL-4, IL-10 and IL-12 were significantly decreased in the doses of garlic extract 200 mg/kg and SAC 80 mg/kg. Histological analyses of the lung, bronchus and thymus were observed that garlic extract and SAC significantly improve inflammatory cell infiltration. In conclusion, the dosess of garlic extract at 200 mg/kg and SAC 80 mg/kg could effectively improve the must allergen induced allergic asthma.
