During the play, children can develop their abilities, physically, psychologically, and socially. Taiwan has abundant and diverse cultures and each culture has its own significance. From the perspectives of cultural inheritance, the study thinks that aboriginal culture is worth of discussing more not just because of her uniqueness but also her attractiveness. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to deeply understand the patterns of the Bunun traditional children's outdoor plays, explore the current tribal children's participation in the childhood game play of the elders, and propose the Bunun traditional children's outdoor play venue planning principles. This study adopted a three-stage research. The first stage of data collection was in-depth interviews. In the second stage, the first stage data were analyzed and combined, and observation methods and group interviews were used to explore the behaviors and viewpoints of the tribal children's experience of traditional Bunun children's outdoor plays. In the third stage, the study integrated the first two stages of data integration, and proposed the principles for the setting up of outdoor play grounds for traditional Bunun children. The results revealed that the most popular outdoor plays for traditional Bunun children are hunting play and position play. Nowadays, children participate more in chasing and position plays. During the playing process, both boys and girls have shown their running jumping, and sliding performance. Also, children have discussed strategies and cooperation while they played. It not only showed the social interaction effect, but also enthusiasm and joy during their play. In the application side, the study suggested that the principle of flexible design for the play site should be considered. In the composition of the play activiely, it is better to provide the opportunity for children to activiely discuss how to adjust the play site in order to strengthen their social and cognitive abilities.
