Summary: | 碩士 === 朝陽科技大學 === 環境工程與管理系 === 105 === The purpose of this research is to apply the ultrasound on sludge hydrolysis with fixed probes, particularly to assess the performance of the ultrasound reaction vessel and to conduct the factor analysis, respectively. The study is expected to figure out the characteristics of the reaction vessel shape by exploring the reduction of the sludge volume and the release of the organic matter through the effect of ultrasound on sludge hydrolysis.
SS reduction between 5~6%, and an increase in the SCOD release by 8~10% were obtained through the application of ultrasound to the hydrolysis of waste activated sludge (WAS) with a 13mm fixed probe, an oscillation period of 10 minutes, the ultrasound effect on an optimal volume of 250 mL, an ultrasonic power of 100 W, and an Es value of about 12000 kJ/kg-TS.
The results varied based on the shapes of the reaction vessels (a cylindrical shape) and the directions of the probe of ultrasound with identical volumes of sludge. A nominal pipe size of 2 inches yielded the best result in both directions of the effects of ultrasound (probe acting on the bottom and the surface) in which the action on the surface is superior that generated SS reduction between 6~6.5% and a SCOD release between 9~11 %.
With the effects of ultrasound in the reaction vessel, it was easy for a small cylindrical reactor to preserve energy due to the D/H ratio that is too low and the height of the sludge in the vessel that was too high to yielded ideal results. However, if a D/H ratio was too high, effective results from the ultrasound application to hydrolysis were not found, either.
