The government of Taiwan has actively promoted the open data policy since 2011. Industries in Taiwan provided their value-added services by using the data has not only promoted the close cooperation between industry and government, but also can drive the next wave of knowledge economy to enhance Taiwan's competitiveness. In this study, we gave the case study of a tourism management company through the use of in-depth interviews to understand the benefits from the open data. We then summarized three important conclusions in exploration and analysis of the value-added applications of the tourism industries with open government data. First, the format of the open government data has no a unified standard and results in the time cost of data conversion, lack of immediacy as well. It will be able to help the development and use of applications related industries if improved. Second, the tourism industry should respond to the impact of the open government data, and lots of innovative applications will be output from applying them. Finally, when companies applied the open data to value-add their applications, more business opportunities could be explored. We hope that this research will become a key indicator for the related industries to expand their services and create more business opportunities.
