The intelligent help system can be used in the care of the elderly and patients move with difficulty. In order to achieve effective communication between the patient and paramedical, the system uses a double-axis joystick as a requesting device. The up, down, left and right four positions on behalf of "I want to drink water", "I want to eat", "I want to urinate", and "I want to go to restroom" instructions respectively. When the patient slides the joystick to the specified position, these instructions can be send by the XBee wireless communication module to the caring side, so that caregivers can more easily identify the needs of patient to make more reasonable treatments. In addition, the system also designed to prevent the user malfunctions. When the stick kept in each position after 3 seconds, a LED is lightened to confirm this instruction is valid. Then a voice signal is send out and the text message is displayed in the LCD screen of caring side subsystem. In the meantime, the subsystem also transmits a message to the caregiver's cell phone, so that the caregiver can confirm the needs of the patient and provides the service immediately.
