Description
Summary:碩士 === 長榮大學 === 台灣研究所 === 105 === The thesis aims to discuss the transcultural phenomenon that takes place when there is an encounter between different cultures. The Catholic culture was introduced to Northern Taiwan by Spanish Dominicans from 1626 to 1642. They returned to Taiwan for a second time to undertake evangelization, from 1859 until the present time. The thesis analyzes the text of their cultural evangelization, and how the transcultural phenomenon developed among the Spanish Dominicans and the various races in Taiwan. Encounters between different cultures may consequences of localization or acculturation. Regardless of the consequence, the trans-cultural phenomenon’s interaction with existing culture gaps result in a new fruit. Analyzing trans-cultural phenomenon allows us to focus on new cultural products, including localization or acculturation, rather than cultural divergence. The important thing is that we could see the meanings of trans-cultural phenomenon in the society.
