Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 工業設計學系 === 105 === Nowadays, tattoo studios are seen everywhere in the cities of Taiwan. People are gradually paying attention to the unique appeal of tattoos. From the perspective of culture, this study focuses on specific traditional tattoo designs in the orient, mainly the four deities as the important culture products, combining geography, history, astronomical phenomena and metaphysics. The concept of oriental aesthetics is introduced for the discussion of people's perception and preference of traditional tattoos, which are the motivation and objective of this study. The study is centered on the patterns of the four deities among the traditional oriental tattoos for discussion about the sense of time, the aesthetic perception and the symbolization encompassed by such tattoo designs by means of literature, acting as the foundation of the design collection. The oriental aesthetics discusses and analyzes the meanings of the four properties (spirituality, integrity, decoration and primitiveness) through literature to deduce specific collection directions that can be used as the contents of the subsequent questionnaire. At the earlier stage of quantization, tattoo designs and aesthetic adjectives were investigated for selection, classification and discussion by two different groups of experts. At the later stage, the semantic differential method was adopted for questionnaire on perception and preference. Quantitative methods such as factor analysis, reliability and T-test were used for crossover study. Through the subjective perception and cognition of the subjects, people's evaluation on the traditional oriental tattoos of the four deities and their cultural characteristics in the modern era can be known. The results of this study discover that: (1) In the perceptive evaluation, the traditional tattoo designs are zenic, contrastive, complex, calm, confusing, ostentatious, innocent and representative. (2) the major differences between the evaluation of different tested groups (of different genders, ages and education levels) exist in overall performance, decorative meaning and spiritual level, showing the differences on the perception of traditional tattoos between different tested groups. (3)In the preference analysis, the statistical results of their own preferences and the representatives of oriental aesthetics show more popular votes, indicating the common result of people's general preference for traditional tattoos. The results of this study provide a systemic orientation reference for image perception, form cognition, aesthetic elements and handling methods of traditional tattoos.
