Moreover, according to the findings on the effects of cognitive courses for dementia, this study proposes recommendations as consultation for the government to develop policies for the patients of dementia. This research adopts mixed-methods designs and purposive sampling to choose eight mild and moderate patients of dementia for conducting a twelve-time cognitive activity courses for an hour each time. The research found that there were no significant changes in t-test’s pretest/post-test of the CDR scale but comparing the subscales in the CDR, some participants have improving changes. In addition, during semi-structured interviews, the research also found positive development in most patients’ physical, psychological and social state; the family caregivers’ burden had been significantly reduced. In conclusion, after the patients of dementia attended cognitive courses in the community, some patients’ physical, psychological and social state had healthily improved. The major family caregivers’ burden had been reduced as well. Last but not the least, the researcher suggests the government launch national official website for dementia, develop sustainable long-term care policy for dementia, tutor and encourage reginal hospitals to work with community for planning diversely creative cognitive courses to activate memory and prevent dementia. Moreover, the reginal hospitals can form partnership with related research institute through strategic alliance, actively visit communities for screening of the patients of early stage of dementia and conduct cognitive courses. As for the family of the major caregivers, the researcher suggests them pay attention to the family members who might possibly have dementia. When someone in the family suffers from dementia, the family member can consult relevant institutes for help.
