碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 台灣文學與創意應用研究所 === 105 === This thesis investigates the innovation of the worldview, form of performance, characters, and plot of the “golden light puppetry” in terms of The Great Hero of Yun-zhou: Su, yam-bwen to highlight the significance and value of Steven Hung’s “golden light puppetry” in literature, arts, and the industry. From the Great Hero series, it is clear that the “golden light puppetry” posits a worldview “above traditional chivalry films but below the sword immortal in swordsman dramas.” Apart from keeping close to reality and avoiding exaggeration, Huang focuses on the depth of plot development. In the “golden light puppetry”, all five tones in Taiwanese are well articulated; the diction of spoken lines is easy to understand and blended with multiple languages, including popular internet slang terms to add fun to the play. In puppet manipulation, Huang pays attention to details and emphasizes the emotional tension of each scene. Keen on dramatic performance without acrobatics, Huang adheres to the moral inheritance spirit in emotional scenes, comic elements, battles of wits, or the narrative of plot for audiences to cogitate the difference among values. In the “golden light puppetry”, Huang makes significant breakthroughs in the form of performance, character settings, and plot development to introduce new directions and possibilities for puppetry development. This study has re-defined the position of “golden light puppetry” in the development of Taiwanese puppetry and found more issues to provide an important foundation for adeeper understanding and research of future researchers.
