Kahn’s model of successful aging, aims on the middle aged and older adults’ perspectives on successful aging and learning strategies in Yunlin County. Hence, the purposes of the study are:
1. To discover the perspectives of successful aging from middle aged and older adults in Yunlin County.
2. To understand the middle aged and older adults’ learning strategies to achieve successful aging in Yunlin County.
The purpose of the study is established from the context of middle aged and older adults in Yunlin County. Therefore, researcher conducted the qualitative research on 6 middle aged and older adults who aged above 55 through Semi- structured interviews. After analysis the transcript, there are 4 following conclusions :
1. The middle aged and older adults in Yunlin County take physical health, economic capacity required for dairy living and good family relationships as the important successful aging conditions.
2. The important successful aging conditions to middle aged and older adults in Yunlin County are participating in society, having a belief and keeping on the optimistic and positive thinking.
The middle aged and older adults in Yunlin County learned through learning strategies which include the information technology products, mass communicate media, experiences, interpersonal communication and reading to achieve successful aging.
Therefore, with the results above, the study can provide some suggestions for government authorities, elder learning institutes, and middle aged and older adults to further development, as following:
A. For government authorities:
1. Establish the learning places to satisfy the middle aged and older adults’ needs of location.
2. Strengthen the propaganda of learning facilities, for example, learning place and course content to improve middle aged and older adults’ learning.
B. For elder learning institutes:
1. Increasing the digital course schedule and content for middle aged and older adults to learn conveniently and to improve their learning motivation by using the features of technology design in interactive activities and interesting courses.
2. The government authorities increase the financial planning courses for middle aged and older adults that teach them economic security.
C. For middle aged and older adults:
Middle aged and older adults should expand their learning orientation to participate courses about security, mental growth and policy propaganda in their later life.
