Yun-Jung Chen 陳筠蓉 碩士 元智大學 財務金融暨會計碩士班(會計學程) 104 The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of female directors on the corporate performance of Chinese banks and Taiwanese financial holding companies. This research has two stages: First, the study uses an EBM DEA model to measure the operational efficiency of banks and financial holding companies. Second, this paper adopts ordinary least squares (OLS) regression analysis to explore the influence of female directors on the company’s performance. Our final sample included 145 samples. Sample period from 2010-2014. The empirical results show that the proportion of non-executive female directors & independent female directors is showing significant positive influence on corporate performance. The result shows that the higher the pro-portion of female directors, the better off the company's corporate performance is. There is robust evidence in the data that can lead to the conclusion that female directors in specific posts can influence a firm’s corporate performance.
