China has been the top destination for investment in recent years. The study plans to explore expatriates’ adaptability and belongingness, as well as the deciding factors of them.
This study conducted in-depth interviews with ten expatriates in Mainland China who were each asked to answer five questions and to complete the form about the deciding factor of adaptability and belongingness. The results show that there are two deciding factors-ability and culture. There are two deciding factors affect the belongingness of expatriate-good communication and good corporate image. The study also discovers that because of the ability and culture, the ten interviewees have good adaptability. The results of this study could become the consideration for employing the expatriate, and help the supervisor to formulate system and rotation of expatriate. Reducing the personnel cost and risk of turnover rate are the ultimate aims.
