Firstly, we visited Miaoli County's health clinic for information about the medical radiological equipments and medical radiological manpower in October 2012. Secondly, we collected the medical radiological information through a questionnaire of aboriginal areas from 1 Jan to 31 May 2013. In 2012, there were 22 physicians, 10 pharmacists, 124 nurses, 19 medical technologists, and 6 medical radiological technologists. There were 11 X-ray machines, 7 ultrasound equipments, and 0 bone density instruments in Miaoli County health units. There were 4 units with X-ray machines, however, without radiological technologists. We sent 56 questionnaires to aboriginal units and received 56 ones in Taiwan. There were 35 X-ray machines, 10 dental x-ray machine, 10 bone densitometers, 30 ultrasonic instruments, and 2 medical cars. About 51% X-ray machines and 10% ultrasonic instruments were configured with PACS (picture archived communication systems). About 30% dental X-ray machines were allocated with digital imaging system. There were 14 X-ray rooms provided lead clothing and fall prevention equipment. Thirteen rooms supplied lead clothing without the fall prevention device and 2 rooms supplied none of them. General and dental X-ray machines were operated by 2 and 1 medical technologists, respectively. According to this survey, we recommend that The Authority should concern more approximately about medical radiological manpower besides the establishment of radiological software and equipments to avoid the illegal operation and to provide medical radiological services with good quality.
