Moreover, the study probes into the difference between current situations of leisure sports and social support in elementary school students under different background variables. The study adopts cluster stratified random sampling to collect data with self-designed questionnaire survey. The data analysis method applies SPSS for Windows 18.0 to conduct statistics processing for credibility and validity, adopting item analysis, factor analysis, credibility analysis, frequency distribution, independent sample-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation for analysis. The study intends to comprehend the motivation and social support for leisure sports in elementary school students in order to provide parents and school teachers with the reference for improving leisure sport participation in elementary schools apart from fitness and physical education classes. The investigation results show the findings as follows: 1. Analysis of overview on motivation: The elementary school students in Miaoli County sampled for the study are evenly distributed in terms of gender and grade and with relatively little experience in sports clubs. However, the rate of “parents” for family members who are living together is the highest. For parental education style, “democratic” communication accounts for the majority method while “occasional” academic stress accounts for the majority of students. More family members engage in sport habits than those who without sports habits. 2. Analysis of sources of social support: “Teacher/Coach Support” receives the highest score, followed by “Peer Support” and then “Family Support.” 3. Analysis of difference for motivation in recreational sports among elementary school 5th and 6th grades in Miaoli County with different background variables: Grade, family members who are living together, parental education style, and academic stress have not reached significant difference while gender, experience of participation in sports and family sports habits have reached significant difference. 4. Analysis of difference for social support with different background variables: Gender, grade and family members who are living together have not reached significant difference while experience of participation in sports clubs, parental education style, academic stress and family sports habits have reached significant difference. 5. Correlation between motivation and social support: The correlation coefficient between motivation and social support in recreational sports among elementary school 5th and 6th graders in Miaoli County is .74 while reaching significance. There is a significant positive correction between motivation and social support in Recreational sports.
