previous teaching materials and methods help students limitedly.Among innovative
teaching methods, cooperative learning of the most widely adopted by our teachers.
Studebt Teams-Achievement Division(STAD) is applied up mostly among all cooperative
learning strategies. But research about STAD affecting different personality traits or
learning styles is rare.
This research uses quasi-experimental method to probe the learning achievement
between different personality traits or learning styles under STAD. The objects of this
research are 4 seventh grade classes of junior high school students in Taoyuan City in the
academic year of 2015. There are both 2 classes ( 59 students ) in control group or
experiment group. They were executed lecture teaching method or STAD. The
performance of 2 sectional examination is taken as learning achievement. The research
last for 13 weeks. Students were divided by big five personality traits or by learning styles.
Then the learning achievement was tested with two-sample T-test.
As a result, the learning achievement of agreeableness personality trait,
accommodator learning style and converger learning style under is poorer and
significantly different. The learning achievement of conscientiousness personality trait
under lecture teaching method and STAD is better but not significantly different.
According to the result of this research, a teacher should able to use multivariate
teaching method and instructional media; and adjust teaching method after characteristic
of studnets was discovered. To improve the learning achievement, educational
administrative agency could create individualized education environment, update
instructional media equipment in teaching site.
For junior high school teachers this research provide some suggestions: there is
suitable or improper teaching strategy for student of different character. This research also
rediscover the value of STAD. In the future, the learning achievement of different
personality traits or learning styles under other cooperative learning could be probed to
find appropriate teaching strategies. Even cooperative learning strategy with traditional
instructional media is worth to explore.
