Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 運動器材科技研究所碩士在職專班 === 104 === Purpose: To compare the acute effects of stepwise and conventional resistance training on neuromuscular adaptations of the knee extensor and flexor in stroke patient. Method: Twelve stroke patients were recruited as subjects, who performed knee extension/flexion of resistance training. The training intensity was conventional 60% of repetition maximum (RM), and stepwise 52% to 68%, 56% to 72% and 60% to 76% of RM respectively. The tension muscle activation, knee joint angle and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) during training were collected for analyses. Results: The time and knee angle of maximal tension of stepwise resistance training (52 % to 68% RM) were significantly higher than the conventional resistance training (60 % RM) during knee extension. The average and impulse of tension, and the activation of knee extensor of stepwise resistance training were also significantly higher than the conventional resistance training. In addition, half of subjects felt that the stepwise resistance training was more comfortable than the conventional training. Conclusion: Although the intensity of conventional (60 % RM) and stepwise (52 % to 68 % RM) resistance training were the same, the stepwise resistance training stimulated more knee extensor activation because of the conformity with muscle length-tension relationship. The stepwise resistance training is a novel and powerful exercise for the rehabilitation in stroke patients.
