Including POE Teaching Strategy’s current status of teaching, teaching attitudes of teachers, and the analysis about whether to apply POE Teaching Strategy. Furthermore, this research discussed the correlation among the variables of cognition, the current status of teaching, teaching attitudes, and in-service training needs of POE Teaching Strategy; also analyzed the differences among teachers from diverse background variables. This research sampled elementary school teachers of science and technology field in New Taipei City using stratified cluster sampling with questionnaire surveys. 303 valid samples were collected out of 407 issued questionnaires; the effective response rate was 74.44%. This thesis analyzed gathered data based on the following methods: descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, chi-square test and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. The result reveals that science and technology teachers in elementary schools of New Taipei City possess medium levels of cognition for the strategy content, primarily concentrates on the aspect of applied teaching. For the teachers, their primary resource of POE Teaching Strategy is the internet, and the in-service training of POE Teaching Strategy is in high demand, especially the topic of designing teaching activities; teachers also expect to learn related information in a short period. Participants showed positive attitudes towards implementing POE Teaching Strategy. 67% of the teachers have applied POE Teaching Strategy due to the accessibility of advisable materials, and “the Magical Magnet” is the most referenced teaching unit; for those who have not applied the strategy, they usually utilize oral and collaborative teaching methods instead. The teaching positivity each participant performed corresponds to the cognition of POE Teaching Strategy they possess; same conditions appear in teaching frequency and in-service training needs. Higher teaching frequency also indicates higher demands on in-service training needs. Those who have attended conferences of POE Teaching Strategy show positive results on the aspects of cognition, teaching frequency, teaching attitudes and demands for in-service training regarding the POE Teaching Strategy content. At the end of this paper, the researcher proposed suggestions of POE strategy implementations and in-service training for teachers according to the results.
