The research purposes were to study 1) the learning motivation, 2) the learning satisfaction, and 3) the influence of various background variables of the elderly populations who participated in the community singing classes in New Taipei City. Suggestions based on the study findings were proposed to related institutions for references. The survey study was adopted using the researcher-developed “Inventory of the Elderly Populations’ Learning Motivation and Learning Satisfaction toward Community Singing Classes in New Taipei City.” This instrument consisted of survey items in regard to subjects’ basic information, their learning motivation as well as their learning satisfaction. 528 questionnaires were sent and 510 returned, reaching a 96% response rate. The statistical methods of descriptive statistics, t-test and One-way ANOVA were utilized for analysis. The findings were as follows: Firstly, the elderly populations showed a high approving opinion toward all aspects in their community singing classes learning motivation, especially for “the cognitive interest aspect” and “the escape/stimulation aspect.” Secondly, the elderly populations showed a high approving opinion toward all aspects in their community singing classes learning satisfaction, especially for “the teacher’s instruction aspect.” Thirdly, no significant differences were found for all background variables’ influence upon the elderly populations’ opinion toward all aspects in their community singing classes leaning motivation. Lastly, no significant differences were found for all background variables’ influence upon the elderly populations’ opinion toward all aspects in their community singing classes leaning satisfaction.
