碩士 === 大同大學 === 工業設計學系(所) === 104 === Abstract
Coffee is more and more popular in Taiwan, among which espresso can be made in numerous varieties; therefore it is a trend for people to have their own coffee machines to make coffee for themselves. Portable coffee makers are especially popular. Through universal design (UD) and general questionnaires to understand the users’ requirements and preferences, and the 39 engineering parameters of TRIZ (Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch), this research is to seek the most feasible design by actualizing the requirements and technical issues with QFD (Quality function Deployment).
The investigation is based on the requirements of the consumers, and is accordingly categorized in 3 demands, functions, human factors, and exterior designs. The 3 major requirements of the demand of functions are trouble shooting, cleaning, and then durability. As for the demand of human factors, the user friendly interface is the consumers’ 1st concern, followed by the product’s size and then weight. Consumers are concerned about the design, and then the materials applied to the product, according to the demand of exterior designs. The results of the questionnaire are implemented into QFD, along with the 39 engineering parameters of TRIZ, and then 8 technical requirements of TRIZ are filtered out of the matrix.
An Italian coffee machine is redesigned based on the technical requirements obtained to offer a 3-in-1 gas offering system in the innovative principle of “mechanical vibration”, “extraction”, and “Composite materials” for the improvement of the accessories consumed, pressure stabilized, and failure avoided. As for the solutions of the materials applied and durability, the notion of “Composite materials” and “Prior action” is to please the consumers with their preferences of metallic touch and light weight. It also offers structural strength to the design. As for the issue of the coffee machine uneasy to clean, the complicated structure is simplified into a few components by the concept of “Local Quality” and “Phase transformation”.
As a solution to the issues of a product, UD, QFD, and TRIZ offer a complete and efficient procedure. Designers are thus able to design and develop the products the consumers like as long as they know what the market needs, and avoid unnecessary time spent on vain designs.
