Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 工業設計學系(所) === 104 === This study analyzes the different designs of the tactile map for the visually impaired individuals based on the impact of time to find the destination and the level of personal preferences. Fourteen visually impaired individuals (blind congenital vision, acquired blindness and amblyopia) were the subjects. In this study, independent variables A, B, C were the results of the three different designs of the tactile map on the same floor for the visually impaired individuals due to the completion time under the different designs of the tactile map and the level of subject’s personal preferences. No significant differences were found based on the level of personal preferences and the completion time by the repeated measures test in three different designs of tactile map. Three designs of the tactile map all successfully guided the visually impaired individual to reach the floor which was determined by the completion time or was accepted by the subjects due to the level of preference. The results showed the three different designs of the tactile map to be accepted to the visually impaired individual. The result and conclusion of this study might be one of the references for the design of the tactile map in the future. This study suggests the followings for further research: 1. Where to place the braille character sign on the tactile map? 2. Are numerals and Chinese characters suitable to be added into the tactile map? 3. Any effect might be caused by adding illustration or characters on the tactile map?
