Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北藝術大學 === 舞蹈研究所理論組 === 104 === With the development of medical technology, the average life expectancy rises each year. According to the statistics by Ministry of the Interior in 2009, Taiwan, ROC has become aging society since 1993, and this aging phenomenon affected the entire social structure of the country, including the health care system. The aging process has had a great impact on individuals both physically and psychologically.
The main purpose of this study was to design a curriculum to strengthen elders’ bodily functions through creative teaching strategies, specifically through the use of teaching aids. This study was carried out using an action research methodology within a Taipei Veterans Home in addition to literature review and interviews. The research targets are fourteen elderly veterans who are limited mobility. Twenty courses were arranged for 45 minutes each time, twice a week. These courses culminated in a small performance by participants’ operating simply created instruments.
The findings revealed as follows:
1.The designed curriculum can improve elders’ physical and mental state especially their confidence and personal interaction.
2.Safety should be the primary concern while teaching seniors. Teacher should understand the physical and mental condition of every individual, and pay attention to individual differences. Thus, it is important to have qualified assistant in order to get better teaching effect.
3.Teacher should develop creativity to well apply the teaching aids, music and spatial use to each class.
This study makes researcher understand that old people can stay healthy if they can keep moving well and have positive attitude. There are still many possibilities to teach physical activities creatively for old people and it is expected more dance people can contribute their ideas and actions to our aging society.
