From Program to Construction: Design and Building Experience of Daqi Children’s Art Library

碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 建築藝術研究所 === 104 === Daqi is located in Guantian district, Tainan city. The residents and we have planned to renovate “Zhongshan Hall”, an old Japanese wooden building by ourselves for three years. In October, the old building was given new life and became a children’s art library of Daqi. We expect to make children can read as many books by visiting local community library, instead of going miles away for reading one book. Also, we hope it will be a place where people can develop a sense of identity by holding various events and exchanging different opinions. In this study, we actually participate through Action Researching from designers’ perspective. First, we observe the need of this case and drafted a design program. After that, we try to fulfill the gap between articles and user experience by reviewing the design and the whole executive processing. Finally, we want to discuss the following things: function type, space size in interior area, add thirteen planning and design main point, and eleven existent bibliography to make up the sufficiency. On the other hand, the whole experience of participation in this case is the basic that inspired researcher with community practice, design thinking and attitude of reflection. We separate our main conception into four parts: (1) To simplify, but unique: the inspiration of the entrance; (2) Take the initiative on shrink, depend on the feelings: the inspiration of construction techniques used in the bookcase; (3) The condition and purpose of space modeling: the inspiration of the bookcase in the west side;(4) From mobilizing ourselves to pushing community involvement: the inspiration of preparation and fundraising.
