博士 === 淡江大學 === 中國文學系博士班 === 104 === In the Spring and Autumn Period time, there were dramatic changes in politics, military, society, and culture. Spring and Autumn Period time was an important period in Chinese history. ''Zuozhuan'' talked about much of propriety, and it was the basic of ruling a country and having a close relation to politics and society; therefore, maybe we can have new results from it. ''Zuozhuan'' analyzed propriety and had more than 200 articles to comment what were propriety and what were not about the history. ''Zuozhuan" is the defender of old propriety: to be in the trend and be rational. In this thesis, we will discuss the politics and propriety in the Spring and Autumn Period, giving examples to analyze manners and concepts in that time. ''Zuozhuan" described details of the history and had judgements on the events and what people behaved and thought were due to this background. Through or research, we know that there were other tiny but crucial factors caused the dramatic changes except for the time changes.
