Compared with smartphone, tablet is more suitable for middle-aged group because the larger screen size. However, middle-aged group are unable to control the touch accuracy and touch sensitivity as physiological degeneration. Due to degradation of memory and understanding, there are a lot of problems in multi-finger gestures, even lead to exclusion of the middle-aged group to learn and use. This study evaluated touch gestures usability to explore the relationship between physiological degradation and touch gestures by two-stage experiment of tablet: (a) Invite the elderly and young groups operating tablet to test the touch sensitivity and operational performance; (b) According to the results of the experiment touch sensitivity, test the usability evaluation of multi-touch gestures. Then propose design recommendations touch sensitivity and gesture of the elderly. The reason cause difficulties for the elderly operated as shown below: high sensitivity, touch gestures, unclear semantics, continuous clicks, uncoordinated movements, and excessive movement. This study proposes the touch sensitivity and gesture touch design recommendations are as follows: (a) low touch sensitivity; (b) understandable, simplification, harmonization, and avoid composite touch gestures. The results can be provided to the relevant research and product design touch as a reference.
