Product engineering refers to the process of identifying a set of engineering requirement items from customer requirement items for a developing product. By employing fuzzy delphi method, weighting values of the customer requirement items (voice of customers, VOCs) can be derived. The product engineering requirement items can also be obtained to reflect the customer requirement items (voice of customers, VOCs). Further by employing fuzzy quality function deployment method, weighting values of the product engineering requirement items cn be derived. The transformed product engineering requirement items are further used as criteria to assess the performance ratings of the evolving prototype of Smart Wearable Device. By employing importance-performance analysis method, weighting values and performance ratings are used to deploy resource commitmant strategies for the developing product. Following the proposed structured engineering method, the author conducted an empirical case study to explore the voice of customers (VOCs), the voice of engineers (VOEs) and resource commitment strategies for a developing wearable electronic device.
