The healthcare is and one of those fundamental rights that the two countries must ensure to their population. The Taiwanese National Health Insurance (NHI) scheme was designed to address the problem of people to falling into poverty because of illness and prevent people from falling ill because of poverty . For that reason, NHI it has attracted the eyes of many leaders from many countries around the world due to its quality and also for its efficiency in terms of cost / performance. In fact, health representatives from around the world visit the NHIA every year to learn more about the program, with 1,202 dignitaries from 82 countries visiting the agency between January 2014 and November 2015 . With a satisfaction rate of 80 percent, Taiwan National Health Insurance is a learning opportunity for Portugal, in terms of healthcare services and policies, about how to get quality and performance with reduced and controlled costs and at the same time improving health care effectiveness and efficiency, using both sectors, public and private.
