Chronic kidney disease causes a great impact on other organs as well. However, this study mainly focuses on iron deficiency anemia which is caused by chronic kidney disease for the therapeutic direction. Since most iron supplements in the market are flooded with divalent iron, which is too strong for patients with gastrointestinal side effects. To reduce the burden of chronic kidney disease patients, we develop a zero-valent iron to reduce the side effect and use it for iron deficiency anemia treatment. Mesoporous zero-valent irons structure increase the specific surface area which increasing the absorption efficiency in the gastrointestinal. The study uses chemical reduction method to produce mesoporous zero-valent iron. We successfully prepared mesoporous zero valent iron by using polyvinyl alcohol as a foaming agent, tween80 and span80 as surfactants, and the reaction is in the oil phase.
