In video production, what to be sought after is to guide viewers for specific feelings, such as sadness, nervousness, warmth, or romance. Factors that trigger viewers’emotionare numerous, among which color plays a vital role. Pop science videos are no exception. The current study targeted on mechanicalcomponents, with the RGB colors projecting in turn on the components as theforeground of the theme. The backgroundwas alternatecurtains of red, green, and blue, including colorless light projection. Atotalof 12 sets of color combination and 30 thorough color adjectives were created, with an aim to examine viewers’feelings and color preferences among viewers having exposed to pop science videos. The results revealed that the color combinationof [Blue theme/green background] displayed the best effects to most of the viewers, whether exposed to pop science videos or not. Viewers having exposed to pop science products hadstrong feelings in aspects as market, objective cognition, and affective, suggestingthat [B/g] was thebest combinationadoptedin pop science videos. Other color combinationalso affected viewers, such as the beneficial effect of [O/b] on viewers’objective cognition. In addition, differentgroups preferreddifferent colors, as [R/r] caused dizzinessto viewers having exposed to pop science yet s sense of stability to viewers without exposure to pop science.iii The 12 sets of color combinations had respective features and functionality, resultingin different effects on viewers.
