Summary: | 碩士 === 南臺科技大學 === 商管專業學院 === 104 === This dissertation’s aim is to explore the effect of social values, as well as having a role model, education and self-efficacy on entrepreneurial intention, by the means of hierarchical linear modeling. The entrepreneurial intention constituting the first level, along with role model, education and self-efficacy, which is the individual level, social values constituting the second level, the country level. In order to conduct the study, secondary data is used. Data from the Global Entrepreneurship for the measure of entrepreneurial intention and data from the World Value Survey is used, for the measurement of social values priorities. The social values that we focus on in this paper, are the dimensions of “self-enhancement” and “openness to change” are our focus. This paper aim is to explore if countries higher entrepreneurial intention rate is correlated to higher priorities of self-enhancement and openness to change values. The results of the study show that first level variables, which are role model, education and self-efficacy are helpful in explaining the differences of entrepreneurial intention among countries. Nevertheless, the idea that social values on a country level also do affect individuals’ entrepreneurial intention isn’t supported. A total of three different sample size are analyzed each time throughout the study. Those three different sample sizes are constituted by males only, females only and males and females put together. We separate gender in this study in order to see if there are significant differences between males and females. The results of this study shows that gender differ when it comes to the explanatory power of each variable.
