Comparing with these technologies, bluetooth has the advantage of small size and low power consumption, especially after the Bluetooth version 4.0 released, bluetooth has become a dominant scheme for indoor positioning. The measurement of the signal strength (RSSI) is used to determine location in Bluetooth positioning, and the most famous indoor positioning application is iBeacon which is offered by Apple Corps. In this thesis we use bluetooth module HC-05 as a signal transmitter, a smart Android phone computes its location based on the receiving signal strength. According to the experiment results we have concluded that it is not easy to obtain a precise positioning because of the severe multipath for radio propagation in the indoor environment, low probability for availability of line-of-sight path, and numerous reflecting surfaces. This is also the reason why iBeacon used pre-defined "immediate, near and far" ranges for indoor positioning. In our study, we apply iBeacon position method and provide an improving mechanism for not just location estimation but also the direction finding. This proposed scheme may help in developing more efficient systems for positioning of mobile computing nodes.
