In the face of increasingly serious problems of climate change and ecological damage, governments have been paying great attention to energy conservation and carbon reduction for the sustainable development. In the light of this, this paper proposes a two-way lighting SCADA system with fuzzy control which takes the PLC as the core and integrates modern communication sensing technology and real-time monitoring interface to perform concentrated electricity control and monitor energy consumption in the building. The developed system uses a PLC to receive various types of sensing information and control lighting equipment. All the sensing information and the active condition of lighting equipment are transmitted to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) via RS232 interface in real time and displayed on smart handheld device. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system are verified experimentally at the Administration and Academic Building of the St. John’s University in New Taipei City.
