Public opinion text mining in Taiwan:A Example of Energy Attitudes

碩士 === 世新大學 === 財務金融學研究所(含碩專班) === 104 === This article intends to explore Taiwanese public opinion on energy source in relate to the use of software “fbCrawler”, and rather if this program has an affection and relevance to the return of investment on company stock of 台達電(2308), 美利達(9914), and 巨大(9921). The database of "fbCrawler” can be used to lock-in and focus on specific topics such as Government Officials, Civil Society Groups, Politicians, Political Parties, and Social Media. These five major categories on its official Facebook page can be pursuit to advanced search in detailed areas such as, Nuclear-Related Subjects, Renewable Energy, Conventional Energy, Energy Focuses, Price of Energy Discussion, Power Shortage Issue, Energy Conservation Issue, and the Impact on Global Climate. These eight subjects could be explored through keyword search, with the study period from July 30th, 2015 to December 18th, 2015. The article explored in details of fans discussions on five major categories on its official Facebook fan page. Taiwanese people can express their voice and opinions on the latest issues through the Media subject on fbCrawler’s fan page, as well as using the force of influence through the propagation of Social Media. While exploring the eight subjects in the keyword search, Nuclear-Related Subjects, Energy Focuses, Price of Energy Discussion, Power Shortage Issue, are the major search topics on its fan page. These topics are highly related and quite consistent in relate to the current Taiwan energy problem that we are currently facing. In this study, the article came up with the following conclusion: the energy related searching topics on fbCrawler’s fan page is highly related and affected to the return of investment on company stock of台達電(2308), 美利達(9914), and 巨大(9921), especially when search increase on subjects of Nuclear-Related Subjects, Energy Focuses, Price of Energy Discussion, Power Shortage Issue.
