碩士 === 東吳大學 === 人權碩士學位學程 === 104 === After Martial law was abolished in 1987, the 228 incident which had been covered up by the KMT regime for a long time had been returned to public memory again. Until today, the 228 incident is a high political issue in Taiwan. Documentary films as a mode of representation of history, that made people know about what happened in the past, including the truth of 228. Nonetheless, the history or the fact in documentaries is decided by its producers, or some kind of power, that interpret the incident with their own political views, sometimes, trying to re-construct the history. The thesis examines seven documentaries in recent years by comparing the narration about the history in films, in order explain how real politics reflect in documentaries, through discussing the contention in the incident. The first part of contention is the causes of the incident. And the second part is that whether the 228 incident is defined as a massacre. Finally, whether documentaries point out attribution of responsibility to the incident. The thesis also finds out that in 2000s, with the transfer of political circumstances, and after the research report on responsibility had been published, there are lots of documentaries were published in the same time.
